About the Course
Who is this designed for?
Nurse practitioners and physician assistants who are entering cardiology, transitioning from another specialty, or working in a cardiovascular role and want to close clinical gaps systematically. The Academy is built for the APP scope of practice — not a physician program repurposed for APPs.
Do I need prior cardiology experience?
No. The Academy begins with core clinical skills — cardiovascular physical examination, ECG interpretation, symptom workup — before advancing to disease management. You can start the Academy the week before your first cardiology job.
What is included in each lesson?
Each of the 16 lessons includes four components:
- Video instruction — length varies by lesson; newer lessons are delivered as several shorter videos
- Structured clinical handout — reference document you keep
- Interactive case study — clinical application of the lesson content
- Physician discussion guide — framework for attending rounds and collaborative conversations
How long does it take to complete?
Most learners complete in 2–3 months at one to two lessons per week (3–4 hours of study per week). Access is lifetime and self-paced — there is no deadline and no expiration.
I’ve been in cardiology for several years — is there still value in this course?
Yes, particularly for clinicians who entered cardiology without formal didactic training. Most experienced APPs identify 2–4 content areas where their knowledge developed through bedside experience but was never organized against the ACC Core Curriculum. The Academy’s structure lets experienced clinicians benchmark their knowledge and target specific gaps without relearning content they already own.
Is this the same content physicians use?
No. Built specifically for advanced practice providers. The scope, decision-making emphasis, and pharmacology focus are designed for the APP role in cardiology. Physician training programs cover procedural skills and pathophysiology depth that is outside the APP scope. This course covers what APPs actually manage.
Is this relevant to PAs and NPs?
Yes. All clinical content, pharmacology, and decision frameworks apply to both NPs and PAs practicing in cardiology. Scope differences between PA and NP roles are addressed where they exist and are clinically relevant.
Pricing and Access
What is the early adopter price?
The early adopter price is $999 — available to everyone who enrolls through June 30, 2026, while the full 16-lesson curriculum is being released across May and June. This price is not a promotion — it reflects the fact that early adopters are joining before all content is finalized. Starting July 1, 2026, when the full course is available, the regular price is $1,899.
What does lifetime access mean?
One payment gives you permanent access to all 16 lessons. No expiration date. No renewal fee. No subscription. All future curriculum updates are included at no additional cost. If a guideline is updated and a lesson is revised, you get the updated version.
Does the course include CME?
Learner+, a CME platform that lets you earn credits usable for any of your continuing education requirements, is pending and will be included with enrollment. Details to follow.
How do I access the course after enrolling?
Access is immediate upon payment — no waiting period. Your account includes all available lessons, downloadable handouts, case studies, and physician discussion guides from day one. Early adopters joining during the May–June 2026 rollout receive access to completed lessons immediately and each new lesson as it publishes, with the full 16 lessons available by July 1, 2026.
Can my employer pay for this?

Clinical Standards and Accuracy
Is the course built on the ACC Core Curriculum?
Yes. All 16 lessons map directly to ACC Core Curriculum domains for APPs in cardiovascular practice, verified against all 14 ACC competency tables. The ACC Core Curriculum is the standard that underlies the CCKE and the competency expectations most health systems use for APP cardiovascular roles.
Which guidelines are used?
Each lesson is built against the current ACC/AHA clinical practice guideline for that topic, including the 2022 ACC/AHA/HFSA Heart Failure Guidelines, 2023 ACC/AHA/ACCP/HRS Atrial Fibrillation Guidelines, ACS guidelines, PAD guidelines, and others. Class of Recommendation and Level of Evidence are cited throughout.
How does the course handle guideline updates?
Paul Logan maintains active clinical practice at WellSpan Cardiology and applies current guidelines in patient care every week. The curriculum is reviewed against major ACC/AHA guideline updates as they are published, and lessons are revised accordingly. Your lifetime access includes all updates.
Can this help me prepare for the NP/PA-CCKE?
The Certified Cardiovascular Knowledge Examination (NP/PA-CCKE) is built on the ACC Core Curriculum — the same framework structuring all 16 Academy lessons, verified against all 14 ACC competency tables. Learners who complete all 16 lessons will have covered the same content the NP/PA-CCKE tests. It is the most directly relevant preparation available outside a dedicated CCKE review program.
About the Instructor
Who built this course?
Paul Logan, PhD, CRNP. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s acute care NP program in 1994 — one of the first ACNPs in the country. He has practiced in cardiovascular medicine for more than 30 years across greater Philadelphia and central Pennsylvania, and has been at WellSpan Cardiology since 2017. He currently serves as AG-ACNP Program Director at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.
Is he still in clinical practice?
Yes. Paul sees cardiology patients at WellSpan Cardiology every week. The course is built from 30 years of doing the job, not from reviewing the literature about it.
